Magnetic Levitation Blowers: Revolutionizing Sewage Treatment

2025-04-03
The magnetic levitation blower, also known as the magnetic levitation single-stage high-speed Centrifugal Blower, is mainly used in sewage treatment to aerate water, increasing the oxygen content in the water. This process helps to remove iron and manganese, or promotes the degradation of organic matter by aerobic microorganisms, achieving the goal of removing oxidizable and precipitable substances.

The magnetic levitation blower (magnetic levitation blower) is a type of turbomachinery equipped with magnetic levitation bearings. Its main structure features that the blower impeller is directly installed on the extended end of the motor shaft, and the rotor is vertically levitated on an active magnetic bearing controller. There is no need for a speed increaser or a coupling, allowing it to be directly driven by a high-speed motor.

The technical advantages of the magnetic levitation blower are as follows:

  1. Energy-efficient and highly efficient. Due to the use of magnetic levitation bearings, there is no contact, no friction, and no need for lubrication, which is not likely to cause contact and mechanical losses. Moreover, there is no need for speed adjustment. At the same time, this blower can adjust the rotational speed according to the working conditions, saving more electrical energy for users. Most importantly, it can adjust the rotational speed to achieve changes in pressure and flow according to the changes in external factors. Compared with traditional fans, it can save 30% of energy, showing remarkable energy-saving and emission-reduction effects.
  2. High cooling efficiency. The cooling system of this blower adopts a combination of air cooling and self-circulating water cooling, achieving the best cooling efficiency. At the same time, it avoids the damage to the motor caused by overheating, prolongs the service life of the motor, and improves the stability of the equipment.
  3. Remote control. The blower uses PLC+GPRS control technology. It not only realizes the overall central control of the blower's operation but also enables remote monitoring of the entire operation process of the blower. Once a fault occurs in the blower, it can be immediately detected, and corresponding measures can be taken for remote maintenance and debugging. Additionally, it has the functions of storage, memory, and remote data collection and control.

The differences between the magnetic levitation blower and other types of blowers are as follows:

The Roots blower is suitable for small flow treatment equipment within 100m3/min. Its energy consumption is not much different from that of the centrifugal blower. It has good flow regulation, high efficiency under variable water levels, and a low price. It is mainly used in small municipal sewage treatment and factory sewage treatment, especially suitable for sewage treatment plants adopting the CAST process.

The single-stage high-speed centrifugal blower cannot adopt variable frequency speed regulation. It has high efficiency under full load, but when the flow decreases, the power consumption does not decrease proportionally. Therefore, its efficiency under partial load is low, and the energy consumption is high. It is mainly suitable for large and medium-sized sewage treatment plants.

Both the magnetic levitation centrifugal blower and the air levitation centrifugal blower have the advantages of high efficiency, energy conservation, low noise, and no vibration. However, the one-time investment cost is relatively high. Nevertheless, during long-term operation, they can save electricity consumption and maintenance costs, and can be regarded as the main development direction of the sewage treatment industry in the future.

In conclusion, in the secondary biological treatment stage of sewage treatment nowadays, the bottom aeration process of blowers is mostly adopted. Therefore, the selection of blowers directly affects the investment and long-term benefits. As one of the commonly used equipment for sewage treatment in the future, the magnetic levitation blower can meet the requirements of modern society for sewage treatment work in terms of both equipment operation and energy conservation and emission reduction. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the research on the application of magnetic levitation blowers in sewage treatment, further improve their stability and reduce costs, so as to achieve a wider application in the future!
